Davida Reid
Interdisciplinary artist, dancer, choreographer, and educator
As an artist, I inhabit a realm where dance and sculpture converge, embodying a unique duality that allows me to shape physical forms and express movement through the body. Rooted in my West Indian heritage, I draw inspiration from the rich tapestry of my cultural background, infusing my work with a diverse array of influences. In my journey as a dance artist, I am driven by a profound mission: to forge a unified language of movement that transcends boundaries, encompassing diverse forms of expression. I seek to transcend conventional storytelling, Perception and observation are paramount in my creative process, as I strive to illuminate the overlooked and absurd, prompting viewers to reconsider their place in the world.
With each choreographic endeavor, I strive to create a space where movement becomes a language of its own, transcending barriers and inviting audiences to embark on a journey of discovery. Through my work, I hope to spark conversations, provoke thought, and ultimately inspire a deeper appreciation for the boundless possibilities of the human body in motion.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the understanding that we consciously teach what we know and unconsciously teach who we are. Dance is not only a form of movement but an embodied language that bridges personal experience with collective understanding. I approach teaching as a physical thinker with a passion for exploring the vast landscape of technical and somatic movement forms, seeing each as a pathway toward richer student experiences and personal discoveries.

DANCER, CHOREOGRAPHER, SCULPTOR ObjectiveI aim to engage audiences in the physicality of movement and in the conceptual thinking behind it. By blending sculpture with dance, I invite viewers to explore the transformative power of movement and its ability to communicate complex ideas and emotions. My goal is to inspire others to think deeply about what dance is and what it can be as I continue to explore and expand the boundaries of choreographic expression.
